Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Alto spotted on test run for the first time

New Delhi : The best-selling car in India, i.e. Maruti Suzuki Alto is set to receive a complete overhaul.
This is not news though; we have known for a while that the automaker has been working on the next
generation model of the Maruti Alto. However, what is new is that the very first set of the upcoming
Maruti Suzuki car’s spy shots have emerged on the internet. Internet sleuths never disappoint, eh? And
our first impression is that the Maruti Suzuki Alto 2021 model appears to be bigger than the current
model.
Unfortunately, we are unable to deduce very little about the car from the spy shots on account of the test
mule being wrapped in all-black camouflage. So, besides the very Maruti Suzuki Alto-esque silhouette,
we spotted turn indicators on the fender, and seemingly redesigned headlamps. Maruti Suzuki is also
expected to use the latest iteration of the Heartect platform for the all-new Maruti Suzuki Alto. This
ought to translate into a bigger cabin.
While we are yet to get a look at the upcoming hatchback’s interior, it is widely believed the automaker
will offer a heavily redesigned dashboard replete with modern provisions. The current model already gets
features such as power windows, multi-info display, touchscreen infotainment system, etc. Expect at least
these to make their way into the 2021 Alto as well.
New Maruti Suzuki Alto 2021 will retain the existing model’s 796 cc petrol engine that generates a
maximum power output of 47 bhp at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 69 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The
current-gen Maruti Suzuki Alto’s fuel-efficiency is rated at 22.05 km/l for the petrol model and 31.56
km/kg for the CNG model.
Of course, there is no word yet about the next gen Maruti Suzuki Alto’s launch date, but we reckon it
will be some time around mid-2021. And as for the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Alto’s price in India, expect
it to start at around Rs. 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
