Laxmmi Bomb trailer: Akshay Kumar promises scares and laughs in equal measure

Mumbai : The trailer of Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi Bomb is out, and it is quite a throwback to Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaiya, at least in terms of the treatment. Alongside Akshay, the film also stars Kiara Advani, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharad Kelkar, Tarun Arora and Ashwini Kalsekar. Laxmmi Bomb is the remake of 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana directed by Raghava Lawrence, who is also directing the Hindi version.
The trailer shows Akshay Kumar’s character getting possessed by the spirit of a woman, and he then starts acting like one since his body is under her control. While the film is trying to create the mood for a horror-comedy, it reminds us of old Hindi movies where the transgender community was represented in quite a stereotypical way. It is yet to be seen if Laxmmi Bomb will avoid those clichés and tell a story that’s sensitive to all genders concerned.
Towards the end of the trailer, Akshay also channels the classic Ashutosh Rana scream from Sangharsh that still sends shivers down our spine.
Earlier, the film was all set to release on the Disney+Hotstar platform on September 9th but pulled out by the filmmaker from digital release and it also had been said that due to some technical issues and unfinished patchwork, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ will release on November 9th. Raghava Lawrence’s horror-comedy film features Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Apart from them, the film features Sharad Kelkar, Tarun Arora, Ashwini Kalsekar, Mir Sarwar in the pivotal roles. The film is a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Muni 2: Kanchana’ and Akshay Kumar will portray the role of a transgender in the film. ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ is all set for its digital release on Disney+Hotstar, November 09, 2020.
From the trailer, it is quite evident that Laxmmi Bomb is trying to balance the story with some situational comedy and songs.
The movie premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on November 9.
